Faith In Action
Faith in Action - Utah is a joint program of Jewish Family Services and Life care, a program of Community Services Council. It is dedicated to bringing faith communities together in order to minimize the debilitating effects of isolation and loneliness on our elderly. It strives to accomplish its mission by:
  • Empowering congregations through education
  • Mobilizing and training volunteers to ensure that the elderly have access to community resources
  • Visiting, reassuring and providing respite as needed
  • Creating an interfaith community of caring friends

Program services
  • Phone Friends - several short calls per week
  • Friendly Visiting - weekly visits
  • Business Help - help with mail, bill paying, etc.
  • Respite Assistance - sitter companion to provide respite to caregivers
  • Shopping - for, or with, an elderly person, including groceries, medications, errands
  • Transportation - to medical appointments

Community Education Program

Specific topics are highlighted in this hour-long workshop series held on the fourth Monday in alternate months. Community professionals share information, skills and techniques to enhance our ability to care for one another.

Old and Alive Series

Five one-hour interactive discussions on late-life issues designed to facilitate exploration and dialogue on the issues of aging and caring for the elderly. This series is available to congregations in the Greater Salt Lake Area.
